Day 1 — The Truth About AI and Campus Hiring in India 2025

Let's start with what's actually happening — not what YouTube thumbnails say.

What the Headlines Say vs What's Actually Happening

Scary headline: "AI will replace 70% of software jobs by 2026"

Reality: TCS hired 40,000 freshers in FY2024. Infosys hired 50,000. Wipro hired 30,000. Accenture India is hiring 30,000+ for 2025.

These are not companies that look like they're stopping to hire.

What actually changed:

  • Companies are hiring differently, not less
  • The bar for technical skills went up slightly
  • Communication and problem-solving matter more than memorising syntax
  • Candidates who show they understand AI tools are preferred

The fear is real. The apocalypse is not.

What TCS, Infosys, Wipro Actually Said

TCS publicly stated they're investing in AI but explicitly said they see it as a tool that makes their employees more productive — not a replacement. Their hiring targets for 2025-26 remain at 40,000+ freshers.

Infosys launched an internal AI upskilling program called "Lex" and made it available to all employees. Their message: learn to work with AI, not against it. Fresher hiring continues at scale.

Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte said in 2024 that AI is changing how they work but the demand for skilled people remains. Their campus program continues across 100+ colleges.

Product companies (Amazon, Microsoft, Google) — here the bar DID go up. They expect candidates to understand AI concepts, not just use AI tools. DSA is still tested, but they also ask about system design for AI applications.

The Three Types of Students AI Is Affecting

Type 1 — At risk: Students who only know how to write code when AI tells them what to write. They can't explain their own code. They can't debug without ChatGPT. Interviewers catch this in 5 minutes.

Type 2 — Unaffected: Students with strong fundamentals — data structures, OS, DBMS, networking — who also use AI tools to move faster. These students are getting hired exactly like before.

Type 3 — Ahead: Students who understand how AI works under the hood — even at a basic level. RAG, agents, prompting. These students are getting hired into better roles at better companies because supply is low and demand is high.

You want to be Type 2 moving toward Type 3. That's what this course does.

What Campus Recruiters Are Actually Asking in 2025

Based on real placement season feedback from students:

Service companies (TCS, Infosys, Wipro):

  • Same aptitude tests as before (verbal, logical, quantitative)
  • Technical MCQs on CS fundamentals
  • HR round with behavioral questions
  • They now sometimes ask: "Have you used any AI tools? Tell me how."
  • This is not a trap. Saying "yes, I use GitHub Copilot for boilerplate" is a good answer.

Mid-tier product companies (Zoho, Freshworks, Persistent):

  • DSA round (LeetCode Easy-Medium level)
  • Technical interview on your projects
  • They ask: "Walk me through how you built X"
  • AI won't help you here if you don't understand what you built

Top product companies (Amazon, Microsoft, Google):

  • 3-4 DSA rounds (Medium-Hard level)
  • System design
  • They ask about how AI fits into systems you design
  • Understanding of ML concepts is a plus, not required

The One Thing That Changed Everything

The average resume now looks much better because of AI.

ChatGPT helps students write polished resume bullet points. AI tools help generate decent project descriptions. The writing quality across resumes has gone up significantly.

This means: The resume alone differentiates you less. What differentiates you now:

  1. A portfolio that shows working projects (not just descriptions)
  2. Your ability to explain what you built in an interview
  3. Genuine communication and problem-solving ability
  4. Some understanding of AI tools (not deep, just aware)

This is actually good news for students who take preparation seriously. The students who were getting by on polished resumes with nothing behind them are being filtered out faster.

Notice: they're all still hiring. Notice: they're all talking about skills, not about replacing students with AI.

Come back tomorrow for Day 2 — where we cover the specific skills AI genuinely cannot replicate, no matter how good it gets.
