SOC Analyst Intern
I am a SOC Analyst Intern with experience from January 2026 to April 2026 at SpyPro Security Solutions. During my internship, I achieved a remarkable 95% detection accuracy in monitoring network traffic and identifying threats, including DDoS attacks and port scanning, while maintaining less than 5% false positives. I am building toward a role as a Cybersecurity Engineer, where I can leverage my skills in penetration testing and risk analysis to enhance organizational security.
Built a real-time IDS/IPS using Snort and Splunk for threat detection, log analysis, and security dashboards. Monitored network traffic, detected attacks such as DDoS and port scanning, achieving 95% detection accuracy with less than 5% false positives.
Analyzed a suspected phishing email by examining headers, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and sender infrastructure to identify spoofing indicators. Traced email routing, identified authentication failures and social engineering tactics, and validated malware detection using VirusTotal.

Monitored and investigated security events 24/7 using SIEM tools in a live SOC environment. Performed alert triage, incident ticketing, escalation, and documentation following defined SOC workflows and incident lifecycle procedures. Applied MITRE ATT&CK framework for IOC analysis; Investigated DDoS attacks, phishing campaigns, malware infections, and suspicious login activities. Configured and maintained SIEM detection rules, use cases, and incident response playbooks to improve SOC operations.

Performed vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on virtualized lab environments including DC1, Sunset, Metasploitable, and Vulnhub CTF machines. Configured system hardening and network security controls; applied threat analysis techniques using Linux (Debian, Ubuntu) in practical lab scenarios. Analyzed security misconfigurations and documented remediation strategies, strengthening understanding of endpoint monitoring and network security.
